    Colussi’s long history began in 1791 with Giacomo Colussi—a baker, the family patriarch, and the pioneer of the family craft. From Giacomo onwards, the business was passed down through generations in Venice, accompanied by a passion for craftsmanship and a constant pursuit of excellence.

    Angelo Colussi opened his first factory in Venice, launching a remarkable entrepreneurial rise in biscuit production.

  • 1930s

    The product range expands, and a direct sales network is established with the opening of 14 stores. Angelo is joined by his sons—Alessandro, Giacomo, and Alberto—who take the reins of the family business.

  • 1950s

    In the Italy of the post-war reconstruction and economic boom, Giacomo, driven by a strong entrepreneurial spirit, transferred the family’s know-how to a modern facility in Perugia.

    1955 saw the launch of Gran Turchese, the delicious shortbread biscuit that would soon win over generations of Italians, establishing Colussi as one of the most highly regarded brands in the baked goods sector.

  • 1980s

    The first diversification of production begins: new lines dedicated to rusks and crackers are added alongside the traditional biscuit production.

  • 1996

    Acquisition of the Misura brand from the multinational Heinz to enter the world of nutritional well-being.

  • 1998

    The company expands its production of rusks and begins pasta exports with the acquisition of the Audisio brand from the Dutch multinational CSM.

  • 1999

    Colussi acquires the Agnesi group—including the Agnesi and Ponte brands—from Danone, enabling it to increase its share of the pasta market.

  • 2004

    Acquisition of Sapori, specializing in Tuscan confectionery specialties and pastries under the brands Sapori 1832, Pepi, Tinti, Parenti, and Vialetto.

  • 2006

    Colussi acquires Albea 90, a company specializing in the industrial production of bread.

  • 2019

    Entry into the chocolate market through the acquisition of “La Suissa,” a historic company specializing in the production of high-quality chocolate.

  • 2024

    Colussi acquires Dr. Klaus Karg’s KG (Dr. Karg’s), a German manufacturer of bread substitutes and healthy snacks. Through this acquisition, the two companies are expanding growth opportunities for bakery products in the international market.

  • 2007

    Colussi acquires Pangram (Romania) with the aim of increasing its presence in the Eastern European pasta market.

    That same year, an agreement was signed with Del Monte for the exclusive distribution of canned fruit in the mass retail channel.
